Course ContentFor a full seminar agenda click here Planning for retirementWe offer two types of courses, the full day national course and the 2½ hour in-school seminar. The 2½ hour in-school seminar is unique to the school. Therefore, one cannot apply online for this seminar. Interested parties should contact us on 01924 229085 or by email : courses@teachersretirementagency.co.uk. The Full Day National CourseOriginally organised by the University of Leeds, this one-day course is led by a team of specialist, education personnel retirement consultants, all with a background of headship, and consists of a number of seminars on important aspects of retirement. The Teachers’ Retirement Agency is pleased to have some years ago taken over the administration of this highly valued course, which is now offered on a national basis at regular intervals. ‘Planning for Retirement’ addresses the issues most pertinent to individuals in education whether considering retirement within the next few years, having already reached the decision to retire or wishing to prepare well in advance. An informal, relaxed atmosphere allows delegates to share their fears and concerns amongst their peers realising that they are ‘not alone’ in facing this challenge. The feedback from previous courses has been universally positive (please see evaluations and testimonials) and many delegates now attend on the basis of recommendation. Course numbers are restricted to ensure integration and interaction. The following issues are addressed:
The 2½ hour In-School SeminarThere’s no time like the present to start thinking about the future…… ..... however, having served the education sector for over a decade, we at the Teachers’ Retirement Agency are well aware that you have little enough time to deal with today’s personal commitments, let alone those of the future. Additionally, many delegates on our highly acclaimed ‘Planning for Retirement’ full day course have confirmed that the course is also beneficial to individuals in education who are still some way from retirement, as it helps them prepare and plan more effectively. The increasingly popular In-School Seminar is a practical response, having been designed for presentation in the school, normally on an inset day or as a twilight, training day or staff meeting to a mixed career-stage delegation. Whilst addressed on the full day seminar, it is impossible in the time allocated within a hectic school schedule to explore considerations such as changing relationships and maintaining good health. As this is the case, the focus for an In School Seminar is on financial issues. The In School Seminar presents delegates with factual information on the State Pension and the Teachers’ Pension Scheme. Additionally, the presentation will provide generic information on the issues most applicable to education personnel, found through our evaluations to be: AVC’s & ARB’s (or ARP’s), Money Management and Budgeting, Investing for Growth / Income, Ensuring Financial Security up to and during retirement and Private Medical Insurance. |
