Paid work opportunities   There is a large range of paid employment opportunities for teachers who wish to work on a part-time basis, allowing them to supplement pension income and keep an active involvement in working life. For many, its an opportunity to pursue interests and hobbies away from the teaching arena and past delegates have worked in diverse areas such as painting, dry stone walls, driving and catering! Click here to read about some of these.

Always remember to take financial advice when accepting a paid role as it could affect your tax position.

Supply teaching
If you are looking to return to the classroom then supply teaching allows you to work when and where you want. What's more, you will enjoy attractive rates of pay and you will be paid on a weekly basis.

If you want to teach in a flexible way, then supply teaching provides opportunities ranging from occasional days to long-term contracts.

Non-teaching opportunities
Aside from various supply teaching and educational roles that are available to retirees, there are a
number of specialist recruitment agencies for the more mature including Forties People, Wrinklies Direct, Maturity Works, Fifty On and the Third Age Employment Network.

Marks and Spencer and B&Q are also
known to be age-friendly, offering mainly part-time jobs. Employers often find that older workers are more
reliable, in need of less training and calmer in a crisis.
